Marvick has more than 17 post-graduate years’ experience in complex design steel and concrete framed buildings, basements, portal frames, water purification and treatments plants, reservoirs, main outfall sewers and structural fire designs. His expertise spans from initial project planning and design to construction implementation. Marvick joined MDCC in 2007 and was promoted to Director in 2012, Managing Director in 2015 and Group Managing Director in 2020. Although Marvick is tasked with the daily operations and strategic vision of the MDCC Group, he is actively involved in all technical aspects of the design process. His speciality lies in the ability to alter existing structures to optimal utilisation.
Marvick graduated in 2006 from the University of Pretoria with a first-class Bachelor in Civil Engineering. In 2010 he obtained his honours degree in Structural Engineering, and in 2012 he obtained an honours degree in Water Utilisation also at the University of Pretoria. In 2021, Marvick completed his Masters’ Degree in Technology and Innovation Management again from the University of Pretoria making him a true Tukkie at heart. He is also a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society
With over 43 years’ experience in the construction industry, Johan is an expert in the development of retail, commercial and specialist projects. He offers specialist insight and extensive experience in retail centre layouts, optimisation, feasibilities, investment opportunities and consulting services to secure project finance for retail and commercial projects.
In 2000, Johan was the visionary of a one-stop multi-disciplinary service offering and is the founding partner of MDCC as its known today. He acted as Managing Director until 2015, since then he acted as Director of Development Management delivering specialist engineering advisory services on infrastructure, retail, commercial, hospital and industrial projects, including new projects and the refurbishment/repurposement of existing buildings to maximise clients’ return on investment.
Since 2020, Johan has fulfilled the role of Chairman of the Board where his proficiency enables him to assist clients in developing the best technical and commercial solutions for their projects. Johan has acted as Promoter, Project Manager and Principal Agent on large scale projects as well as specialist witness in large arbitration cases in South Africa. Johan’s level of experience makes him the perfect candidate to resolve any Alternative Dispute Resolution issues.
Cobus joined MDCC in 2004. He has more than 19 years’ experience in commercial developments, retail developments, municipal infrastructure, residential development and road design projects. Cobus has extensive experience in the Civil and Structural Engineering fields and has delivered countless successful civil design and construction projects.
In 2019, Cobus was promoted to Director of Civil Engineering and Operations of MDCC and manages a team of civil engineers and technologists while overseeing the implementation of special projects.
Nico joined MDCC in 2004 and has more than 37 years’ experience in the architectural field. He has advanced experience in various medical, industrial, residential, educational and commercial projects. Nico is an expert in the design and layout of medical buildings including hospitals, clinics, emergency rooms, neonatal units, theatres, dialysis centres, nurses’ training centres and doctors’ rooms.
In 2005, Nico was appointed as Director of MDCC and has acted as Director of Architecture since 2014 where he manages a team of architects and technologists. He has vast experience in conceptualising client ideas and wishes, turning it into drawings, documentation and administrating the actual construction process to deliver on clients’ needs. Nico also has relevant experience in acting as Principal Agent on large scale projects.
