Marvick Janse van Rensburg
Marvick graduated in 2006 at the University of Pretoria with a first class Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (BEng Civil). His working career commenced at MDCC in 2007.
Marvick obtained his BEng (Hons) (Structural Engineering) degree at the University of Pretoria at the end of 2010 and his BEng (Hons)(Water Utilisation) in 2012. He is a Registered Professional Engineer, a member of SAICE and an Associate Member of the Water Institute of South Africa and Association of Arbitrators.
He has gained extensive experience in civil/structural engineering and process engineering for both commercial and industrial sectors. He is a specialist structural and process engineer.
Marvick was appointed as a Director of MDCC in September 2012 and Managing Director in March 2016.
Chairman / Director Civils and Operations
Ahmed has worked in the civil engineering industry since 1987 when he joined Stocks Civils as a trainee technician. In 1990 he joined FHV as a Civil Technician. Since April 2000 Ahmed is the Chairman and a Director of MDCC and is responsible for Civils and Operations.
Ahmed has gained a broad base of experience in many aspects of township infrastructure, development engineering, project management and roads in the consulting and construction industry. He has been involved in the design and management of various projects.
Nico has been involved in the architectural field since 1985 when he joined DLV to work in their architectural division, where he was involved in various medical, industrial and commercial projects in the Gauteng area.
He joined Exelarch Designs in 1999 as head architect until 2004 when he joined MDCC as Project Architect. Nico has worked on various commercial, residential, medical and educational buildings in the North West and Gauteng regions. Nico was appointed as a Director of MDCC in March 2005.
Director Development Management
Johan has extensive experience in the Structural and Civil Engineering industry. His experience goes back to 1979 when he joined SNA as an Assistant Design Engineer – Roads. In 1981 he joined FHV in Klerksdorp, North West Province. In 1985 he was appointed Managing Partner. From April 2000 to February 2016, Johan was Managing Director of MDCC. He is now Director Development Management.
He has gained wide experience covering the full spectrum of structures, sanitation, including treatment, water systems including pump stations, pipelines and purification works.
Johan has been actively involved as leading project manager and principal agent in commercial developments since 1998, with experience covering convenience centres, big box retail, value centres and regional shopping centres. Johan has a proven track record for delivering commercial developments on time and within budget. He has experience in all engineering issues, cost control, shopping centre layout and feasibility studies.
Director Legal Services
Najma obtained her BA LLB at University of the Witwatersrand in 1989 and 1991. She practiced as an attorney until 2004. She then joined Senwes as their Compliance Officer and Legal Advisor. She has been working for MDCC since 2008 as Director Legal Services.
Jan has gained extensive experience in Municipal Services since he graduated in 1973. He commenced work at the Department of Agricultural Engineering in Pretoria where he was involved in engineering projects for soil conservation and irrigation. He later joined private consulting engineers in 1974 tasked with the design of road and stormwater structures for provincial and national roads.
In 1975 he joined local government (City of Matlosana) attending to the full scope of civil engineering services for master planning, design, project management, operation and maintenance. He advanced through the ranks to the position of Deputy Manager Civil Engineering. He joined MDCC in 2008.
From November 1980 until August 2005 Herman managed his own building and construction enterprise with 120 full-time employees. Since joining MDCC in 2005 as Project Manager he has gained wider experience in architecture, civil and structural engineering.
Herman has been actively involved as project manager and principal agent in various developments since 2005 such as hospitals, convenience centres, big box retail and value centres. He also deals with mining departments and various government departments on provincial and national level.
Joythie studied Architectural Technology at Durban University of Technology (formerly Technikon Natal). Upon graduating in 1998, Joythie gained experience in architectural technology under the mentorship of key contributors to the field of Architecture. After 8 successful years in Durban, she made the decision to explore the architectural field in Ireland and relocated to Dublin in 2005. Joythie returned to South Africa at the end of 2008 after 3 exciting years in Dublin and was immediately employed by KMH Architects where she spent the next 8 years being mentored and gaining invaluable experience in the South African construction industry. In her quest for further professional development, she joined the team at MDCC in early 2016.
Cobus joined Ninham Shand Consulting Engineers in 1996 as a technical student. He graduated in 1997 and continued his employment with Ninham Shand where he obtained valuable experience in Civil as well as Structural Engineering.
Cobus joined MDCC in 2004. He has gained extensive experience in the Civil and Structural Engineering fields. In 2006 he relocated to Brits where he acted as the Office Manager for the newly-opened branch office for MDCC until the end of 2008.
In January 2010 he re-joined the MDCC team in Klerksdorp as a Senior Technician. He successfully completed his studies for a B-Tech Civil Engineering degree and is currently employed at MDCC as a Civil Technologist.
